Are there any Genuine Online Typing Jobs?
I’ve been working online since 2009. For me, it has been more than 10 years discovering all kinds of jobs online.
Over the years I’ve come across so many jobs which are really genuine but at the same time some jobs which are fraud.
Although there are myriads of online jobs you can talk about however in this article we shall focus only on typing jobs.
We shall start by asking the question – is there any genuine online typing jobs?
The answer is yes but very few. Finding a company that provides you work regularly and pays you on time is quite difficult.
However still you can do it.
Where to Find Genuine Online Typing Jobs
One of the important thing in searching typing jobs from home is – registration free.
If any company provides typing jobs without investment & registration fee then it may be genuine but if they ask for registration fee, then just ignore this company.
Learning from 10 years long experience I’ve found out there are 3 ways you can find genuine online typing jobs from home.
Finding Typing Jobs on Job Portals
Various Job Portals like Naukri, Monster, Shine, Glassdoor etc can help you find typing jobs available in your city.
You just go to these sites and type in “online typing jobs” and see what results they present you.
You must go through each listing, read the recruiter’s details, visit their website and call them on the phone to find out more.
This is not very effective but still a way to find online typing jobs.
Finding on Freelancing Sites
You can also go to Freelancing sites like Upwork, Fiverr, PeoplePerHour where there are thousands of projects available for all kinds of work.

There are also sites like Inboxdollars, Swagbucks that offer you small online typing jobs without investment but the earning is minuscule and you can ignore them.
Not very effective but still better than the previous one!
Finding a Company Directly
The third way is the most appropriate way to find online typing jobs. By finding a company directly on the internet!
You go to Google, type in the keywords, go through the search results one by one and manually do the research to find a genuine company.
You not only visit their website to find out more about the company but also talk to them on phone and ascertain all the small details like the type of work, registration fee, payments, eligibility etc.
For example, I did some research and came across a few companies which are providing genuine online typing jobs from home without investment and registration fees.
Job Profile: Most of the time the job is simple typing work where you convert eBooks into MS Word document. You read the eBooks in PDF format and type it in a MS Word Document.
Eligibility: You must be above 16 years and 10th Pass with the Knowledge of English.
You must be careful before you join a company. Always go for a company which has an office, no registration fee and you can visit them in person.
Types of Online Typing Jobs
From my experience the most common type of online typing job that you can find in India is converting eBooks or an Image File in MS Word document. You read from the PDF or an image file and type in a Word Document.
However some other types of online typing jobs are
1. Copy & Paste
Here you basically copy from a MS Word File to another Word file and do some basic formatting. Find Out More Here!
2. Survey Forms and Form Filling
You fill various survey forms in online survey jobs. You have to answer few simple questionnaires that don’t take more than 2 minutes.
3. Ad Posting
You copy and post ads to various classified sites. Mostly these types of typing jobs are not real typing jobs as you get paid for sale.
4. Captcha
You already know what Captcha typing job is. You have to type captchas through software or online on the company's website.
5. Data Entry Work
There are other data entry jobs like transcription jobs, entering data into Excel file, writing and editing paragraphs etc.
Eligibility Criteria & Basic Requirements
Do not take this job as a cake walk. You need skills like
- Decent Knowledge of English
- Knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel Basics
- Typing Speed of over 40 Words Per Minute
- Accuracy of over 98%
- Handling Work Overload and Meeting the Deadline
You just need a computer with an Internet connection to get started.
How Much Can You Earn?
If you are really serious about the online typing jobs or data entry work in general then you can earn up to Rs 15,000/month if you gain an experience of 3 to 4 years.
If you are a beginner then you can expect Rs 7,000/- to Rs 10,000 per month.
However, you have to work 6 to 7 hours a day like a regular job.
You earn mainly from converting PDF files/Image files into MS Word Document or Data Entry Work. For newcomers it requires a lot of hard work.
Rest of the jobs like Ad Posting, Form Filling and Copy & Paste are not very reliable.
What You Should NOT Fall For?
Perhaps this is the most important part of the article. Usually most of the typing jobs on the internet are just scams.
It is very normal that a person who is new on the Internet may fell for these fraudsters.
Below is an example of two such sites that you should NOT fall for.
The first one is a company named Vibgyor Informatics Pvt. Ltd. From the outside they look very genuine. They have a website, an office and a person you can talk to.
In fact, I even called them and they asked me to join the company after paying a registration fee of Rs 9500/-.
But I didn’t because of 2 main reasons.
- You need to pay registration fee to get this job.
- They have listed total 9 typing jobs on their site at the time of writing this post. They given statewise vacancy, one in each state and ask to deposit the fee.
Its possible that hundreds of people deposit the payment same day in their account. If there is only 1 vacancy, other people will not get the job even after making the payment.
The second one is a group of the following sites.
Although they don’t charge any money for the registration but they don’t offer you any typing jobs because they don’t have one.
I registered there to find out that they don’t have any typing jobs. They just want to get your eyeballs and generate some money from Google AdSense ads click.
That’s it. DON’T go to these sites and waste your time.
Beware of sites that don’t offer any typing jobs and just want to fleece money from you in registration fees.
Who is it For?
To be honest Online Typing jobs are suited for less ambitious people who are satisfied with a fixed amount of monthly income.
People like
- College Students looking for part time jobs
- Housewives who want to earn extra income
- People who don’t like a 9 to 5 job or want to commute daily.
- People with Medical Conditions
